Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi together with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It went on to become the most streamed song at the period within the space of six months. The combination of reggaeton and pop music has not only brought interest back to the genre, but also to Latin music in general. In 2015 there were only two mostly songs with Spanish lyrics on the Billboard Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. In 2017, at the height of popularity for Despacito 19, 19 songs mostly in Spanish made it to the Top 100. The year 2020 will see the number will increase to 41 hits that fall into this category. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017 and soon after the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) and Madonna collaborated on Medellin together with Maluma (2019). A few performers of reggaeton expressed their displeasure at the rise of popular music by 2020. But a new band, Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the evolution and development of reggaeton. He used elements from other styles and electronic music.
