Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. She was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington Paquin began her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress aged 11 years old, and was the 2nd youngest recipient in Oscar history. The character as Flora McGrath - the daughter to an Scottish muffled pianist from New Zealand at mid-19th Century - was won by her when she attended an open audition. When she was nine years old, she had little or none experience with acting. In her teens her family relocated from New Zealand to United States. Paquin played the lead role in Fly Away Home in 1996 and had a minor part as Jane Eyre when she was just a young child. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 in which she played the queen of Spain in a less prominent role. She portrayed teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) and A Walk on the Moon (2000). She played her character groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
